Great times in August!!

Ekka EkKa EKka!!

Ekka is one of the biggest events here in Brisbane. They have it once a year for a week. There is lots of exhibitions, games, foods, goodies and farm animals to be seen. We, being the newbies in Brissie, this is a must go place for us. And so, we went on the very first day.LOL *Feels so Singaporean*akhem...no offense!=) We went that day cause it was our free day and its not that crowded during the weekdays..;)

Doulos
the final voyage...

One Saturday, Judah 5 organized an outing to Doulos, in Bretts Wharf. Finally i got a chance to step on the ship.=) Didn't get a chance when it was in Malaysia.

After 94 years at sea, Doulos purpose is bringing God's word to many countries of the world. MV Doulos made the final voyage here in Australia. On the ship, there is a world famous bookshop, and you can enjoy a superb coffee and talk to members of Doulos crew. Pictures ahead....

CCM Events

Last month, CCM from University of Queensland organized a Multicultural Night in uni itself. We were suppose to dress up into any culture. It was interesting to witness groups united for this special event. Every group was suppose to send a representative and impress the judges. Well, me being the most 'well dressed' and new in the group, i was given the honorable number 5!

The results? Culture of the future generation won!Congrats! Great effort done on the suit.=) And Faith from Judah 6 won the Best Effort Award. She did a great job in getting the audience up on their feet dancing to the beat.=)
It was a scary experience for me but at the same time it really challenged my faith. I didn't win, but it was a great experience.=) Had fun!

Besides that, Judah 2 and Judah 3 held an event in the university as well. Christmas in August! Wondering why X'mas on August? Cause its winter now..i mean a month ago. Winter is ending soon and SPRING is near. Can't wait to see how beautiful it would be with flowers blooming all over. Anyways, back to the event. Christmas, what would be the first thing that comes into your mind? Christmas tree, red, and presents!=)

Those were the times......

Those were the first times of my life....there is always a first time for everything. This is the first time i went to South Bank and The City.=) Happy me! What's nice in there places?Plenty...

One Tuesday, we went to South Bank to catch a movie. And guess which movie we watched.....no? It's The Dark Knight! Its pretty "out" now when your reading this. But trust me,we were one of the early birds who watched the movie..at least i think we are..hmm.. Anyways, we went there by City Cat.

Well, winter is ending pretty soon, temperature here is rising and i don't think i'll be able to stand Malaysia's weather now after winter. Summer here would be dreadful as well. Ah~ *sigh*

and ferry(City Cat). Just a ticket, and you can use any transport countless times.

One Saturday, with initiative, we arouse early one morning to head to West End. It's a place where fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, bread and other products are sold at a cheaper price compared to many places in Brisbane.

Movie Extravaganza!

The Bucket List!

"There was a survey once, a thousand people were asked if they could know in advance, whether they want to know the exact date of their death. 96% of them say No!"

Directed by Rob Reiner, who ought to know better, it tells the story of two old men diagnosed with terminal cancer. Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) is a wealthy, confirmed bachelor hospital owner and Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) is a middle class car mechanic with a big family and a longtime marriage. The film is about the way they choose to spend their final days doing all the things they never got to do when they were young. A Bucket List is a list of things you want to do before you kick the bucket. I watched this movie together with Elane, Venus and Siu Fai, in the really comfy, carpeted, organised house of Siu Fai's. Amazing for a place conquered by guys. Good job!*wink*

SPOILERS ahead;

1) The movie wastes a good third of its running time hanging out in the hospital with Edward and Carter as they receive their initial diagnosis and come to grips with it.

2) It feels like the scenes after being diagnosed with cancer was rushy towards the end.

3) The background and sceneries seems fake here and there.

BUT;
overall, i enjoyed the movie!=) Here is why; it makes me think of what is My Bucket List! Well, probably its too early for that, but who knows rite? Anything might happen.*choi choi choi* touch wood!

There are parts which i find pretty meaningful. This is one of the few which i remembered;

• This was when Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) was asking Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) on top of a pyramid;

Those are simple questions, but it made me think about my life. Its amazing how movies can make us question our life's and that we can relate to certain situations by putting ourself into their shoes.
