A lot of times, questions do arise when something bad happens...
"why did this like this happen?"
"why did God let this happen?"
"why do i need to go through all of this?"
"why why why......?"

I came across this poem written by a lady, Annie Johnson, who experienced symptoms of arthritis. Soon she was forced to give up her teaching job. With no way to make a living, Annie turned to writing poetry to support herself and a frail sister. As the pain increased, often she could write only a few words at a time. Yet God used her writings to encourage other suffering people. When she received a letter telling of a woman's struggles with depression, Annie wrote this poem;
"What God Hath Promised."
God hath not promised skies always blue
Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
But God has promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing sympathy, undying love.
Annie did not complain but continue to trust and stayed close to God. Did Annie ask God to take away her pain? No doubt she did. But she did not focus on her sufferings, however, she did God's work by doing all she can.
Only God knows the reason why He wants us to go through the trial in His strength. Through time you will know and when you look back, you'll thank God for the things you learnt during the period of trial.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
God bless!
